Years ago I used Hivelogic Enkoder to protect my email address from email harvesting spam bots. Encoder has been defunct for a good while at this point, and I decided to use Claude Code to create a replacement. It started as a simple utility for myself, and became a bit of an obsession. There are now three separate projects.
- Obfuskoder-JS — the simplest version, a single-page HTML+JavaScript application to obfuscate email addresses. Dead simple to use.
- Obfuskoder Mac — a macOS app that offers both a graphical interface and a command line interface. The best experience, if you use macOS.
- Obfuskoder-Quarto — a Quarto extension, a shortcode, that uses
obfuscode(included in the Mac app) to obfuskode email addresses in Quarto Markdown (.qmd) files.
